You own everything. You just haven't realized it yet.

I want you to partake in a mental exercise.

Let’s pretend you have a gigantic pile of cash. It is not just money.  Money is NEVER just money. Why? Because at any point, you can swap that money for something you want. Everything becomes a potential asset.

Think of money like they are soldiers. They are just waiting for orders. You can sacrifice them for any asset at any time.

The only thing missing is the action.

I personally view the world as one gigantic yard sale. You should too.

This idea came to me when I practiced flipping as a side hustle. I operated in a selective field. I knew what everything was worth ahead of time. Before I made any purchase, I always knew what someone would pay for it ahead of time. Occasionally, I even had another buyer lined waiting.

Yes, you read that right. I would sell items even before I owned them.

This lesson also applies in reverse. I think of “things” that I own the same way. If something is sitting in my house and has not been used for over a year, it is sold. It isn’t needed. Get rid of it. Transfer it back it into a soldier.

If you think of money this way you will never lose. Ever.

Tips on how to exploit this mindset:

  1. Avoid buying retail. You will never get better than a 1:1 trade.

  2. Subtract the associated selling fees from any offer that you make.

  3. Purchase online directly from individuals (Craigslist, Facebook). Negotiate and offer cash.

  4. Keep a pile of cash in your house. I suggest a minimum of $1000. You never know when you will find a good deal. You want to avoid running to the bank. Focus on closing.

  5. Remember EVERYTHING is negotiable.

Now all you need to do is get that pile of cash. Once you do, you will own everything.
